1. Build Brand Awareness
By vlogging about your reselling journey, you can create a recognizable brand. Share your sourcing process, the products you’re selling, and behind-the-scenes content. This helps potential customers learn more about your business, establishing trust and credibility. Over time, viewers may become loyal followers, which can translate into more sales.
2. Showcase Your Products
YouTube offers a visual platform where you can show off the items you're reselling. Whether it’s fashion, vintage items, or collectibles, you can demonstrate their quality, condition, and how they look in real life. This can attract buyers who might not have seen your products on other platforms or your store.
3. Educate and Share Expertise
As you share your knowledge about thrifting, sourcing, and reselling, you position yourself as an expert in your field. You can create tutorials on how to find hidden gems at thrift stores, how to clean and restore secondhand goods, or how to price items for resale. Providing value through education will attract an audience who trusts your expertise, and this can lead to increased sales as viewers seek out your store.
4. Engage with Your Audience
YouTube allows for direct interaction with your audience through comments and live streams. This engagement helps you build a community around your reselling business, creating loyal customers who feel personally connected to your brand. You can ask for feedback, respond to questions, and even host Q&A sessions to keep the conversation going.
5. Improve Your SEO and Online Visibility
YouTube is the second-largest search engine after Google, and when you vlog regularly, your videos can show up in search results. By optimizing your video titles, descriptions, and tags with relevant keywords, you increase your chances of being discovered by people searching for reselling-related content. This can drive traffic to your website, social media, or online store, leading to more sales.
6. Promote Your Reselling Store
Your YouTube channel can serve as a free marketing tool. You can create videos linking to your online store, promoting special offers, or showcasing new inventory. Mentioning your store or including a link in your video descriptions can guide viewers to check out your products and make purchases.
7. Leverage Collaboration and Sponsorships
As your channel grows, you can collaborate with other resellers, influencers, or brands. Sponsored content or affiliate marketing can also provide additional income streams. For example, a brand might reach out to you for a product review or partnership, which can help you earn extra revenue while promoting your reselling business.
8. Content Variety and Cross-Promotion
You can repurpose your YouTube content across other social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. A video showing your thrift finds can be shared on Instagram stories or clips of your vlogs can go viral on TikTok, driving more traffic back to your YouTube channel and your online store.
9. Boost Your Sales and Profitability
By building a following, providing value, and creating engaging content, you can directly drive sales through your YouTube channel. When people feel connected to your personality and business, they're more likely to purchase from you, share your content, and help you grow your brand.
In summary, vlogging on YouTube is a great way to connect with potential customers, showcase your products, educate others, and increase visibility for your reselling business. By consistently creating engaging, value-driven content, you can build a loyal audience and convert that following into sales.
Helpful Hints from LeeAnn on Cleaning & Sourcing:
How to Clean & Restore Secondhand Clothing for Resale
I am a firm believer that all items I source, that are not New With Tags, should be cleaned and steamed.
The first thing anyone needs to keep in mind is CARE TAGS! Follow the instructions to ensure the item gets the best care possible. If an item is machine washable, it gets washed with unscented products. I use Soap Nuts or Soap Berries—a natural, environmentally friendly, and unscented product. You can find them at your local bulk store or online.
For hand-wash or dry-clean items, I steam them along with everything else. Remember to allow the steamed items to dry before storing them in your inventory.
How to Spot Hidden Gems in Thrift Stores and Estate Sales
The best way to spot items is to do research first!
See what patterns and colors are trending this season, and then use your eyes to find fantastic prints and vibrant hues.
Identify brands known for luxurious fabrics like Cashmere, Silk, and Linen. Learn what their labels look like and familiarize yourself with the feel of these fabrics! Cashmere is perfect for the cooler months, while Linen is ideal for summer!
